- Data Challenge - Message Decoder
During the Summer of 2017 I was invited by a member of the Clinical Developers Club to participate in a data programming challenge. The data, stored in FASTA format, describing approximately 121 000 base pairs in which an ASCII-encoded message was hidden within an intermediary binary-encoded format was provided to participants. The challenge was to implement a message decoder revealing the hidden message contained within the FASTA data file. An implementation using the GNU Bourne Again Shell (BASH) programming language augmented with a few basic *nix utilities successfully decoded the DNA sequence.
